Leather Cleanings

Cleanings

Cleaning your leather is one of two steps that will give your leather a long and beautiful life. We use high quality cleaner designed specifically for genuine leather only. This cleaner brings your leather piece back to it’s natural pH level, which prevents breakdown and decay from oils and soiling that occur from daily use. Our method of cleaning not only cleans the surface but it also goes underneath the leather fibers to pull up dirt and oils that have saturated over time. Professional cleanings are recommended every 6 to 12 months for pieces that endure normal to daily use. Every 3 to 6 months for pieces that get heavy usage, especially if kids and animals are regularly in contact with your leather. Weekly you should go over your leather with a soft damp cloth between professional cleanings.
Step two is conditioning your leather. This is important to extend the life of your leather pieces, as it is an organic material that needs moisture to stay soft and supple. Much like our skin, leather needs protection from the environment, which our treatment also provides. The conditioner will also add stain and wear resistance to keep dirt’s and oils on the surface for easier future cleanings.

For brand new Leather purchases we offer a Protectant Treatment to start you new leather pieces off well protected, it can even be used on Aniline leather in most cases

BEFORE- finished leather

You can see where body oils were accumulating on this recliner by the yellow tinged stains

after- cleaning

We deep cleaned this recliner by hand using a specially formulated cleanser that not only removes surface dirt and oil, but in pulls out deeper soiling in the fibers of the leather. We follow up with a conditioning treatment to keep oils and dirt on the surface for easier regular cleanings.

before semi-aninline

Semi Aniline is a buttery soft yet unprotected leather type the easily fades and dries out from UV damage. It also stains easily from even water as seen here.

AFter Semi-aniline

We gave this a deep cleaning to remove most of the staining followed by a deep moisture treatment which draws the leather dye to the surface and brings back the rich color. Last step was the protective conditioning application. We did not add any dye to this ottoman at all, the results are purely from rehydrating the leather.

before-oil pulled leather

This type of leather is often seen from designers such as Restoration Hardware. Although this type of leather is meant to have a distressed look and the dye floats inside the leather it can still get very dried out and can fade loosing its original richness.

After- Cleaning

Here you can see a marked difference with just a cleaning, moisture gel massaged into the leather followed up with a protective conditioner application. By massaging in the products in you move around the dye suspended in oils that are inside of the leather, drawing it to the surface and revitalizing the look.

protected aniline

This is an arm rest on a brand new set of a protected Aniline leather set. When we buy a new leather piece we assume it in its optimal health, but as we see here it can arrive home already dry from warehouse conditions. We applied our leather protector and you can see it immediately moisturized the leather as well as adding protection for this set that will be well loved by a family

Before and After of finished leather

Here we cleaned and conditioned this love seat and you can see how it just brighten up the color and took away the dryness seen especially on the seats prior to treatment.
